TradeDoubler partners with Lycos 2000-09-07 TradeDoubler, the European affiliate marketing network, has signed a contract with Lycos in Scandinavia. Aiming to generate more traffic to its Internet portals in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, Lycos will use TradeDoubler's platform and services to establish and administer its affiliate programme. An affiliate programme improves the effectiveness of online business by linking traffic between content websites (affiliates) and commercial sites seeking to attract visitors (merchants), in this case Lycos.
- I consider affiliate marketing a very interesting component of the marketing mix. We have positive experiences from the US, where affiliate marketing is proving very successful, says Anna Bergstrand, CEO of Lycos in Scandinavia. Our partnership with TradeDoubler will not only make our site even more accessible to our visitors, but also attract quality traffic in a cost efficient way.
Lycos will employ TradeDoubler's solution for establishment, running, support and administration of affiliate programmes and tap into its network of over 150, 000 affiliate relations. These are made up of content sites earning a commission from generating new visitors, registrations or purchases on e-commerce sites, portals or other commercial web sites.
- Co-operating with Lycos is wholly in line with our strategy of forming partnerships with large traffic drivers, active in several European markets, says Felix Hagnö, CEO and co-founder of TradeDoubler. A well known and respected brand, Lycos is suitable partner to TradeDoubler.
- Portals and other web sites with high traffic volumes increasingly appreciate the benefits of using affiliate marketing. There are great opportunities for them, not only to increase their own traffic volume, but also to introduce new revenue streams by generating quality traffic for others, Hagnö concludes.
