Eurostar, the high-speed train service that carries passengers between the UK, France and Belgium, has signed an agreement with TradeDoubler to launch an affiliate marketing network. The programme, launched in the UK in May, aims to generate traffic to Eurostar’s website - Eurostar.com - via TradeDoubler’s network of affiliate publisher partners, thereby increasing the number of Eurostar’s online sales. TradeDoubler affiliates will be paid a commission for every sale transaction secured via their site.
Launched in 1994, Eurostar will celebrate its tenth birthday this November. Over a similar timeframe, the Internet has matured as a marketing and sales channel, delivering an increasing number of sales to a broad sector of travel companies. In fact, TradeDoubler’s figures reveal a 390 per cent increase in online travel sales between 2003 and 20041.
Will Cooper, Chief Marketing Officer at TradeDoubler, commented: “Affiliate marketing is a highly effective form of mutually beneficial online advertising and provides an economical option to advertisers such as Eurostar to increase brand awareness and drive online sales.”
