HILTON TO LAUNCH ONLINE RESERVATION TOOL WITH SUPPORT FROM TRADEDOUBLER
Hilton International (“Hilton”) has announced an agreement with TradeDoubler, the European market leader for online performance-based marketing, to establish an affiliate marketing programme. The move supports Hilton's strategy, which is to drive 20% of individual business online by 2008.
The partnership will allow Hilton to broaden its reach to the wider consumer market through advertising on a wide range of affiliate websites, through TradeDoubler's extensive publisher network. This will be achieved in a cost-effective manner and will also ensure the consumer gets the best value, by booking direct on Hilton's brand web sites.
Recently Hilton has re-evaluated the performance of its traditional distribution partnerships. Whilst these third-party booking agreements were traditionally both convenient and uncomplicated for Hilton and its customers, in many cases they do not continue to provide value for Hilton, nor do they ensure the consumer receives the best price.
Jerome Wise, Director of Channel Marketing for Hilton, commented: “I see the affiliate network as a fundamental part of the marketing mix in helping us reach our online goals and as the European market leader, with scalability across 16 markets, TradeDoubler was the obvious choice for Hilton. In the hospitality business it is vital that we continue to listen to what our customers are demanding. With online technology continually making things faster and more convenient - driving sales through our brand web sites is vital. We are really looking forward to working with TradeDoubler in 2005 to assist us with meeting our business objectives.”

The affiliate programme is currently live in the UK, with plans to extend the campaign to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Germany early in 2005.

Europe's bad weather sees web sales soar this summer!!!
According to the latest statistics from online marketing expert, TradeDoubler, European consumers have scrapped their traditional outdoor summer activities this year in favour of shopping on the Internet. The bad weather in August has caused families to ditch mandatory trips to the summer high street sales, the beach or theme parks, for online shopping, gaming and entertainment.
UK families in particular appear to be abandoning their usual summer pursuits in preference to surfing the world-wide-web for the hottest holiday bargains and the quirkiest entertainment to keep the kids occupied throughout the summer. Whilst traditional high-street retailers in towns and shopping centres have suffered this summer, seeing a year-on-year increase in sales of between 0 and 1 per cent, online sales have soared!
The growth in popularity of online shopping is supported by recent figures published by Nielson/Netratings, which show that at-home Internet users across 12 countries worldwide have increased by more than 2.8 million from June to July 2004. TradeDoubler has seen European online sales volumes increase by 170 per cent from last summer, with sales in entertainment products increasing by 12 per cent in August alone.

Eurostar works with TradeDoubler to increase online sales
Eurostar, the high-speed train service that carries passengers between the UK, France and Belgium, has signed an agreement with TradeDoubler to launch an affiliate marketing network. The programme, launched in the UK in May, aims to generate traffic to Eurostar's website - Eurostar.com - via TradeDoubler's network of affiliate publisher partners, thereby increasing the number of Eurostar's online sales. TradeDoubler affiliates will be paid a commission for every sale transaction secured via their site.
